Colin McLean
BBS Massey University
Colin grew up and farmed on a Wairarapa hill country sheep and cattle farm. The homestead garden and plantation was designed by Alfred Buxton and is still an inspiration. This early experience of the relationship between the natural landscape and a designed aesthetic of the garden has had a significant influence.
Colin has a strong feeling about the importance of harmony between the natural and the built elements of a garden. With a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University and a professional career in financial management in the UK, Colin also brings commercial expertise to his management of all elements of the projects.
Sue McLean
BA Hons, Dip Tchng, Cert Garden Design & Soft landscape Auckland Unitec
Sue grew up in a family of passionate gardeners and has always been inspired by the positive influence beautiful gardens can have in our lives. Since having her own garden as a child she has been in love with plants and the endless combinations which can excite the senses with form, colour, texture and fragrance. Her role in the company is to develop the initial concepts after the briefing and consultation with the clients and take responsibility for the planting design and personal sourcing of all the plant material. A McLean garden is characterised by strong elegant planting, either exuberant or restrained depending on the atmosphere desired by the owners and in keeping with the architecture of the house and spirit of the site.
